Northwest Africa 14928 (NWA 14928) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Oct Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3) History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in October 2021 from an Algerian dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-delineated, somewhat unequilibrated chondrules containing devitrified glass are set in a relatively fine-grained matrix containing stained kamacite, augite, troilite, chromite and merrillite, but no plagioclase. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa28.5±1.7, range Fa27.5-31.8, Fa PMD 5.2%, N = 6), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs18.9±2.7Wo1.2±1.3, range Fs15.1-23.1Wo0.3-3.9, N = 7). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3). Specimens: 22.7 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
