Northwest Africa 14976 (NWA 14976) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Aug Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4) History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in August 2021 from an Algerian dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-delineated chondrules containing devitrified glass are set in a relatively coarse grained matrix containing kamacite, troilite, chromite and merrillite, but no plagioclase. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.4±0.3, range Fa18.0-18.8, N = 5), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs16.3±0.3Wo1.3±0.1, range Fs15.9-16.6Wo1.1-1.4, N = 6). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4). Specimens: 24.6 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
