Northwest Africa 14810 (NWA 14810)

Find: 2021 Sep

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK6)

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca) mm-sized chondrules set in a recrystallized matrix with 50 µm grain size. The dominant mineral is olivine. Plagioclase has average grain size above 50 µm. Magnetite is abundant in chondrules and matrix. Pentlandite is found as 10-20 µm grains.

Geochemistry: Olivine Fa29.3±0.1, NiO 0.40 wt% (n=3). Orthopyroxene Fs27.4Wo0.6 (n=1). Plagioclase An53.3Ab45.6Or1.1, An80.1Ab19.5Or0.3 (n=2). Magnetite Cr2O3 3.54±0.21 wt% (n=3).

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK6).
