Northwest Africa 15068 (NWA 15068) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Jun Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in June 2021 from an Algerian dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Sparse equilibrated chondrules containing devitrified glass and plagioclase occur within a recrystallized matrix containing sodic plagioclase, stained kamacite, troilite, chromite, augite and chlorapatite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa24.9±0.3, range Fa24.4-25.3, N = 6), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs22.8±2.7Wo1.7±0.1, range Fs21.0-27.5Wo1.5-1.8, N = 5). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5). Specimens: 24.0 g including one polished thick section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
