Adrar Sottouf 002 22°14’37"N, 15°06’35"W Rio de Oro, Western Sahara Purchased: 2022 Mar Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H6) History: Found in Western Sahara, on December 15, 2021 Petrography: (K. Metzler, IfP) Ordinary chondrite (weathering grade W0) with high amounts of Fe-Ni metal and few chondrule relicts. Secondary feldspar grains mostly >50 µm. Geochemistry: Mineral compositions and geochemistry: The mean olivine composition is Fa19.1±0.2 (Fa18.9-19.3; n=9) and the mean low-Ca pyroxene composition is Fs16.6±0.4 Wo1.5±0.2 (Fs16.2-17.3 Wo1.1-1.8; n=10). Classification: H chondrite based on mineral chemistry. Petrologic type 6 based on the equilibrated state of olivine and pyroxene and grain size of secondary plagioclase. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
