Northwest Africa 15054 (NWA 15054) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Aug Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4) History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in August 2021 from an Algerian dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-formed relatively small, relatively equilibrated chondrules containing devitrified glass are present within a relatively coarse grained matrix containing altered kamacite, troilite, chromite, chlorapatite and merrillite, but no plagioclase. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.3±0.5, range Fa17.7-19.1, N = 7), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs16.3±0.7Wo1.1±0.0, range Fs15.8-17.4Wo1.1-1.2, N = 5). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4). Specimens: 28.16 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
