Northwest Africa 15030 (NWA 15030) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Aug Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in August 2021 from an Algerian dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Sparse chondrules (glass-free) occur within a largely recrystallized assemblage containing sodic plagioclase, kamacite, taenite, troilite, chromite, augite and chlorapatite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa25.0±0.2, range Fa24.7-25.2, N = 4), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs21.2±0.1Wo1.6±0.2, range Fs20.8-23.5Wo1.2-1.8, N = 7). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5). Specimens: 55.8 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
