Northwest Africa 14918 (NWA 14918) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2022 Apr Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H7) History: Purchased by Ziyao Wang in April 2022 from a dealer in Agadir, Morocco. Petrography: A. Irving, UWS, and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) The specimen has a poikiloblastic texture (mean grainsize ~300 µm) with no preserved chondrule structures. Larger oikocrysts of low-Ca pyroxene enclose chadacrysts of olivine. Accessory phases include sodic plagioclase, stained kamacite, augite, troilite, chromite, and merrillite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.3±0.3, range Fa17.9-18.7, N = 7), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs16.3±0.1Wo3.3±0.6, range Fs16.1-16.5Wo2.5-3.9, N = 5), augite (Fs7.5Wo42.4). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H7). Specimens: 36.7 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with WangZ. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
