Ain Ben Tili 001 25°06’14.54’’N, 09°23’58.22’’W Tiris Zemmour, Mauritania Find: 2021 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6) History: The meteorite was purchased from a meteorite dealer in Morocco. Physical characteristics: Five fragments almost completely covered with fresh fusion crust were found mid 2021 by nomads in northern Mauritania and subsequently purchased by the main mass holder from a meteorite dealer in Morocco. Petrography: Strongly recrystallized ordinary chondrite with sparse relict chondrules. The plagioclase grain size is about 70 μm. Contains shock melt veins. Geochemistry: olivine: Fa24.3±0.4 (Fa23.8-24.9, n=5); low-Ca pyroxene: Fs20.2±0.2Wo1.7±0.2 (Fs20.0-20.5Wo1.2-1.9, n=5); Ca-pyroxene: Fs7.3±0.4Wo44.9±0.3 (Fs6.7-7.8Wo44.5-45.5, n=5) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
