Writeup from MB 111:

Northwest Africa 15135 (NWA 15135)

Mali

Purchased: 2021 Oct

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3)

History: Purchased in Agadir, Morocco, by Aziz Habibi in October 2021.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-formed, relatively closely-packed unequilibrated chondrules (apparent diameter 1100±560 µm, N = 26) containing devitrified glass are set in a fine grained matrix containing altered kamacite, taenite, augite, chromite and troilite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa15.8±11.2, range Fa2.6-39.6, N = 13; Cr2O3 in ferroan olivine 0.02-0.19 wt.%, mean 0.10±0.06 wt.%, N = 17), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs11.2±7.8Wo1.1±1.1, range Fs2.5-26.6Wo0.2-3.7, N = 11), augite (Fs6.9±1.6Wo38.6±3.9, range Fs5.1-8.2Wo35.7-43.0, N = 3). Magnetic susceptibility log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 3.85.

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3).

Specimens: 22.1 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. A. Habibi.
