Writeup from MB 111:
Northwest Africa 15132 (NWA 15132) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2018 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CVox3) History: Purchased by Ziyao Wang from a Moroccan dealer at the China Mineral and Gem Show in Beijing City, China. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-formed unequilibrated chondrules (some with multiple rims, apparent diameter 1030±520 µm, N = 25) and sparse irregularly-shaped to amoeboid CAI are set in a fine grained Fe-rich matrix (~40 vol%, dark sepia brown in thin section) containing abundant small grains of fayalitic olivine plus accessory Cr-magnetite and kamacite. One chromite rich chondrule was observed containing clusters of fine grained chromite grains. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa16.7±22.9, range Fa0.8-70.3, N = 19), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs1.2±0.5Wo1.0±0.1, range Fs0.7-1.9Wo0.9-1.0, N = 5), diopside (Fs1.1Wo37.0), magnetite (Cr2O3 0.1-1.9 wt.%, N = 7). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CVox3). Specimens: 30.4 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with WangZ. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
