Northwest Africa 15151 (NWA 15151) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Classification: Ureilite History: The meteorite was purchased by Mr. Salamu Ali from a group of meteorites hunters in Nouadhibou, Mauritania in 2021 and donated to MNB. Physical characteristics: Dark brownish fragment without fusion crust. Petrography: Orthopyroxene-bearing ureilite showing a granular texture of up to 1 mm sized olivine and pyroxene grains. Both, olivine and pyroxene show pronounced reduced rims. Minor phases include graphite, troilite and altered metal. Geochemistry: reduced rims in olivine: Fa0.6-1.6; olivine contains 0.49±0.02 wt% Cr2O3 and 0.27±0.01 wt% CaO; reduced rims in pyroxene: Fs1.7-3.5Wo1.2-2.8; pyroxene contains 0.84±0.03 wt% Cr2O3 and 1.07±0.03 wt% Al2O3 Classification: Ureilite (orthopyroxene-bearing) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
