Writeup from MB 111:

Northwest Africa 15203 (NWA 15203)

(Northwest Africa)

Purchased: 2021 Dec

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3)

History: Purchased by John Divelbiss in December 2021 from a dealer in Riverside, California, who had obtained the material from a Moroccan source.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU.) Relatively small, well-formed, somewhat unequilibrated chondrules containing devitrified glass are set in a relatively coarse grained matrix containing stained kamacite, taenite, chromite, troilite and chlorapatite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa20.6±3.2, PMD = 11.0%, range Fa16.2-27.4, N = 9), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs15.8±6.1Wo1.2±0.9, range Fs7.0-25.0Wo0.2-2.9, N = 7). Magnetic susceptibility log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 5.24.

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3).

Specimens: 29.5 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. J. Divelbiss.
