Northwest Africa 15205 (NWA 15205)

(Northwest Africa)

Purchased: 2021 Jul

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5)

History: Purchased by John Divelbiss in July 2021 from a dealer in Australia, who had obtained the material from a Moroccan source.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Sparse equilibrated chondrules (some containing devitrified glass) are set in a relatively coarse grained matrix containing sodic plagioclase, stained kamacite, chromite, troilite and merrillite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa19.2±0.4, range Fa18.7-20.0, N = 13), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs16.8±0.2Wo1.2±0.4, range Fs16.6-17.1Wo0.8-1.5, N = 7).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5).

Specimens: 22.0 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. J. Divelbiss.
