Northwest Africa 15222 (NWA 15222) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: May 2022 Classification: Ureilite History: The meteorite was purchased from a group of meteorites hunters in Nouadhibou, Mauritania, in May, 2022. Physical characteristics: Dark brownish rock without fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite exhibits a coarse-grained protogranular texture of up to 3 mm angular to subrounded olivine and less abundant pigeonite crystals. Olivine displays pronounced reduced rims and the meteorite contains flaky graphite, troilite, and mostly altered kamacite. Geochemistry: reduced rims in olivine: Fa1.3-3.4; olivine contains 0.60±0.03 wt% Cr2O3 and 0.35±0.01 wt% CaO; pigeonite contains 0.98±0.04 wt% Cr2O3 and 0.49±0.03 wt% Al2O3 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
