South, Morocco

Find: 2020

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3.15)

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Weathered chondrite with well-delineated packed chondrules with apparent diameter 720±350 μm (n=20). The rare remaining original opaque minerals are metal and troilite. Chondrule mesostasis is devitrified. Olivine is zoned.

Geochemistry: Olivine Fa_14.7±8.4, range Fa_0.5-30.3, Fa PMD 97% (n=40). Low-Ca pyroxene Fs_11.4±8.5Wo_1.0±0.6, range Fs_1.9-22.0.Cr₂O₃ in ferroan olivine 0.20±0.12 (n=34).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3.15). LL group based on chondrule size and magnetic susceptibility. Subtype based on the Cr₂O₃ content of ferroan olivine that is similar to Yamato 791558 (Grossman and Brearley, 2005).

Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Jérémy Bassemon
