DISCOVERY OF THE EL SAMPAL, ARGENTINA, IRON METEORITE

Name: EL SAMPAL

Place of find: Near El Sampal, about 20 km E of the town of Nueva Lubuka, Chubut province, Argentina.

44°32'S, 70°22'W.

Date of find: Early 1973.

Class and type: Iron. Medium octahedrite.

Number of individual specimens: 1

Total weight: 142 kg

Circumstances of find: Found partly buried in soil during a geological prospecting trip.
