Northwest Africa 15306 (NWA 15306)

Niger

Purchased: 2021 Dec

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4)

History: Found in Niger and purchased in December 2021 by Mbark Arjdal.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Well-formed chondrules are set in a relatively coarse grained matrix conatining stained kamacite, taenite, troilite and merrillite, but no plagioclase.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa17.9±0.2, range Fa17.6-18.1, N = 5), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs16.0±0.7Wo1.1±0.3, range Fs15.5-17.3Wo0.6-1.5, N = 5), augite (Fs6.2±0.4Wo45.0±0.7, range Fs6.0-6.7Wo44.4-45.8, N = 3).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4).

Specimens: 42.1 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. M. Arjdal.
