Northwest Africa 15313 (NWA 15313) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Aug Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4) History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in August 2021 from an Algerian dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-formed equilibrated chondrules containing devitrified glass are set in a relatively coarse grained matrix containing extensively altered kamacite, troilite, chromite, merrilite and secondary calcite, but no plagioclase. Veinlets of secondary Fe oxides are present. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.6±0.2, range Fa18.2-18.9, N = 8), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs16.4±0.5Wo1.1±0.1, range Fs15.4-16.9Wo1.0-1.3, N = 7). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4). Specimens: 24.7 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
