Macroscopic Description: René Martinez This meteorite is roughly rectangular in shape. Approximately 50% of its exterior surface retains fusion crust. Where the fusion crust has weathered away, the surface is smooth and reddish-brown. Fractures are numerous. The interior is light and dark gray with abundant mm-size light inclusions.
Thin Section (,3) Description: Glenn MacPherson Some limonitic stain is locally present, suggesting light weathering. Chondrules up to 1.5-mm diameter are sharply defined. The meteorite is brecciated. The clasts have well-developed plagioclase, but that in the matrix is much finer grained. Olivine is uniformly Fa24-25. Pyroxene (Fs22-23) is mostly orthorhombic. Metal and troilite are subequal but low in abundance. Anisotropic tetrataenite (approx. 55% Ni) was found, in addition to kamacite.. The meteorite is an L5-6 chondrite. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
