Northwest Africa 15361 (NWA 15361) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2022 Jan Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: Purchased by Kenneth Alvarez Castillo in January 2022 from a dealer in New Jersey, who had obtained the specimen in 2021 from a Moroccan source. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Sparse glass-free chondrules are set in a recrystallized matrix containing altered kamacite, taenite, troilite, chromite, augite and chlorapatite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa25.1±0.5, range Fa24.4-25.8, N = 7), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs21.8±1.9Wo1.4±0.2, range Fs21.0-26.1Wo1.1-1.7, N = 7). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5). Specimens: 23.2 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. K. Castillo. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
