Northwest Africa 15427 (NWA 15427) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2022 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6) History: Purchased by Nicholas Gessler in 2022 from a Moroccan dealer. Physical characteristics: A batch (total 966 g) of approximately 500 similar fragments coated by semi-glossy black fusion crust. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Sparse glass-free, equilibrated chondrules occur within a mostly recrystallized assemblage containing stained kamacite, taenite, troilite, chromite, augite and chlorapatite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa25.1±0.4, range Fa24.4-25.5, N = 7), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs21.0±0.3Wo1.7±0.2, range Fs20.5-21.3Wo1.4-1.9, N = 6). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6). Specimens: 22.4 g plus one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. N. Gessler. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
