Al Alamayn 002 30°39’47.39’’N, 28°32’15.28’’E Marsa Matruh, Egypt Find: 2022 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: The meteorite was found by Mr. Amr Khaled in 2022 during a field trip to the northwestern Egyptian desert. Physical characteristics: Dark brownish rock without fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite is composed of sparse, poorly defined chondrules set in a recrystallized matrix containing sodic plagioclase, chromite, chlorapatite, troilite, and FeNi metal. The plagioclase grain size is about 25 μm. Shock melt veins are present. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
