Northwest Africa 15290 (NWA 15290) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2022 Classification: Ureilite History: The meteorite was purchased from a meteorite dealer in Morocco. Physical characteristics: Brownish rock without fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite exhibits a coarse-grained protogranular texture of up to 2 mm angular to subrounded olivine and pigeonite crystals, both displaying characteristic reduced rims. The meteorite contains flaky graphite, troilite, and mostly altered kamacite. Geochemistry: reduced rims in olivine: Fa4.0-5.0, n=3; olivine contains 0.69±0.10 wt% Cr2O3 and 0.36±0.06 wt% CaO; reduced rims in pyroxene: Fs2.6-14.3Wo3.9-7.2, n=3; pigeonite contains 1.14±0.04 wt% Cr2O3 and 0.85±0.25 wt% Al2O3 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
