Northwest Africa 15397 (NWA 15397) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2022 Classification: Ureilite History: The meteorite was purchased from a meteorite dealer in Guelmim, Morocco. Physical characteristics: Dark brownish fragment with some fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite shows a protogranular texture of up to 2.5 mm sized olivine and pigeonite grains both displaying reduced Mg-rich rims associated with fine-grained FeNi-metal. The meteorite contains graphite. Iron oxide veins often decorate grain boundaries. Geochemistry: reduced rims in olivine: Fa3.5-7.0, n=3; olivine contains 0.54±0.03 wt% Cr2O3 and 0.29±0.01 wt% CaO; reduced rims in pyroxene: Fs1.1-2.0Wo1.4-2.0, n=4; pyroxene contains 1.13±0.03 wt% Cr2O3 and 1.26±0.04 wt% Al2O3 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
