Northwest Africa 15484 (NWA 15484) Mali Find: 2022 May Classification: Ureilite History: Found in Mali in May 2022, purchased by Shawn Kashay from a dealer in Dchira, Morocco and subsequently sold to Preston Allen. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Protogranular aggregate (mean grainsize ~0.5 mm) of olivine, orthopyroxene and minor diopside with accessory Fe metal, schreibersite, graphite and troilite. There are sparse reduced magnesian rims accompaned by blebby Fe metal on the margins of some olivine grains or along cracks within them, as well as sporadic veinlets of kamacite. Pigeonite is absent. Geochemistry: Olivine (cores Fa9.5-15.8, Cr2O3 0.53-0.72 wt.%, CaO 0.22-0.33 wt.%, N = 12; rim Fa3.9), orthopyroxene (Fs13.0-13.4Wo3.3-3.7, Al2O3 0.5 wt.%, Cr2O3 1.0 wt.%, TiO2 0.08 wt.%, N = 5; Fs4.1Wo4.3), diopside (Fs5.8Wo40.5). Classification: Ureilite. Specimens: 21.4 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. P. Allen. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
