Northwest Africa 15527 (NWA 15527)

Purchased: 2021 Jan

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5)

History: Purchased by Darryl Pitt in January 2021 from a dealer in Erfoud, Morocco.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Sparse relatively small, glass-free chondrules are set in a recrystallized matrix containing stained kamacite, taenite, sodic plagioclase, troilite, chromite, chlorapatite and merrillite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.9±0.2, range Fa18.6-19.2, N = 8), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs16.8±0.3Wo1.3±0.4, range Fs16.3-17.1Wo0.8-1.7, N = 7).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5).

Specimens: 39.2 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with DPitt.
