Northwest Africa 15594 (NWA 15594)

Purchased: October, 2022

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3)

History: The meteorite was purchased from a meteorite dealer Agadir, Morocco.

Physical characteristics: Many dark brownish fragments partly covered with fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite shows a chondritic texture with well-defined, mostly rounded, and partly packed chondrules (mean diameter about 0.8 mm) in a more fine-grained brownish matrix that contains sulfides and rare FeNi metal mostly altered to iron oxides and hydroxides.

Geochemistry: Cr2O3 in ferroan olivine 0.10±0.05 wt%, range Cr2O3=0.02-0.19 wt%, n=42.

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3). Estimated subtype LL3.3
