Northwest Africa 15601 (NWA 15601) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: October, 2022 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3) History: The meteorite was purchased from a group of meteorite hunters in Nouadhibou, Mauritania, in October, 2022. Physical characteristics: Two dark brownish fragments partly covered with fusion crust. Petrography: The carbonaceous chondrite displays a fresh almost black interior and is composed of large chondrules (up to 4 mm sized), whitish CAIs (up to 3 mm sized), and olivine amoeboids all set into a fine-grained matrix. Opaque phases are sulfides and FeNi metal. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
