Grizim 002 25.936°N, 01.868°W Adrar, Algeria Purchased: 2022 Jan Classification: Lunar meteorite (feldspathic breccia) History: Found in Algeria and purchased by Ziyao Wang in January 2022 from a dealer in Laayoune, Morocco. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Breccia composed of mineral clasts of anorthite, low-Ca pyroxene, pigeonite and augite in a fine grained matrix containing ilmenite, chromite, baddeleyite, troilite and kamacite. Geochemistry: Anorthite (An96.1-97.2Or0.1, N = 3), olivine (Fa28.0-46.4, FeO/MnO = 96-116, N = 4), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs20.1-34.1Wo3.5-3.9, FeO/MnO = 64-71, N = 3), pigeonite (Fs30.1-39.7Wo6.9-9.3, FeO/MnO = 59-61), augite (Fs21.3-45.4Wo40.1-37.4, FeO/MnO = 58-62, N = 2). Classification: Lunar (feldspathic breccia). Specimens: 18.3 g in the form of a polished endcut at UWB; remainder with WangZ. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
