Northwest Africa 15482 (NWA 15482)

Purchased: 2022 Sep

Classification: Lunar meteorite (troctolitic anorthosite)

History: Purchased by Ziyao Wang in September 2022 from a dealer in Tan-Tan, Morocco.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Breccia composed of lithic clasts and related crystalline debris dominated by anorthite and olivine with subordinate pigeonite and accessory low-Ti chromite, pentlandite and pervasive secondary barite granules.

Geochemistry: Anorthite (An94.4-97.5Or0.2-0.0, N = 4), olivine (Fa19.0-45.6, FeO/MnO = 80-97, N = 5), pigeonite (Fs23.2-26.3Wo7.4-10.6, FeO/MnO = 42-50, N = 4).

Classification: Lunar (troctolitic anorthositic breccia).

Specimens: 16.9 g including one polished endcut at UWB; remainder with WangZ.
