Northwest Africa 15726 (NWA 15726)

(Northwest Africa)

Purchased: Aug 2022

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3)

History: Reportedly found by nomads in Mauritania und subsequently purchased by Mr. Jasper Spencer from a Moroccan dealer via Facebook Messenger.

Physical characteristics: Two brownish stones lacking fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite shows a chondritic texture with well-outlined, partly flattened, and well separated chondrules (apparent mean diameter about 0.4 mm) set in a dark brownish matrix containing strongly altered metal and sulfides.
