Antofagasta, Chile

Find: 2 May 2022

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3)

Petrography: The meteorite is composed of distinct chondrules of PO, POP, GO and minor BO, RP and CC types (D=395±218, N=134) in the fine-grained silicate matrix. Chondrule mesostasis is isotropic glass. The silica-bearing and compound chondrules were found. Olivine has sharp optical extinction and irregular fractures. Metal Fe,Ni abundance is 4.4 vol.%. Fe-hydroxide partially replaces some of metal grains and fills thin fractures in the rock.
