Writeup from MB 112:

Calama 337        22°29.19’S, 68°44.32’W

Antofagasta, Chile

Find: 15 Nov 2022

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L3)

Petrography: The meteorite has chondritic structure and is composed of distinct chondrules of BO, BOP, RP, PO, POP, GO and CC types joined together by fine-grained silicate matrix. Average chondrule diameter is 644±422 µm (N=115). The chondrule mesostasis is isotropic glass. The Fe,Ni metal (1.2 vol. %) and troilite form irregular aggregates or isolated grains of 300-500 µm in size. Troilite forms the rims around the some chondrules and metal grains as well. Olivine has weak undulatory extinction and irregular fracturing. Minor Fe,Ni hydroxide fills the thin fractures.
