Northwest Africa 15716 (NWA 15716) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: November, 2022 Classification: HED achondrite (Diogenite) History: The meteorite was purchased from a meteorite dealer in Ouarzazate, Morocco. Physical characteristics: Two dark grayish rocks with patches of black fusion crust. Petrography: Achondrite showing a metamorphic texture dominated by up to 1 mm sized interlocking low-Ca pyroxene crystals. Minor pases are chromite, Cr-bearing troilite, troilite, and kamacite. Geochemistry: low-Ca pyroxene: Fs24.0±0.1Wo2.6±0.1 (Fs23.8-24.1Wo2.5-2.7, FeO/MnO=26-30, n=10) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
