Northwest Africa 15909 (NWA 15909) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2023 Classification: Ureilite History: The meteorite was purchased from a meteorite dealer in Algeria. Physical characteristics: Dark brownish rock with some fusion crust. Petrography: Coarse-grained protogranular aggregate composed of up to 3 mm angular to subrounded interlocking olivine and pigeonite crystals, both displaying characteristic reduced rims. The meteorite contains graphite, troilite, and partly altered kamacite. Geochemistry: olivine cores: Fa18.9±0.1 (Fa18.7-19.2, n=10), contain 0.74±0.03 wt% Cr2O3 and 0.36±0.02 wt% CaO; reduced rims in olivine: Fa3.1-5.3; low Ca-pyroxene: Fs15.6±0.2Wo11.5±0.1 (Fs15.4-16.1Wo11.3-11.8, n=10), contains 1.24±0.03 wt% Cr2O3 and 0.74±0.04 wt% Al2O3; reduced rims in pyroxene: Fs6.4-13.0Wo5.8-12.6 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
