Northwest Africa 15984 (NWA 15984) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: December 2021 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in December 2021 from a meteorite dealer in Morocco. Physical characteristics: Single stone with slightly weathered dark brown fusion crust. Petrography: (D. Sheikh, Cascadia) Sample is an equilibrated ordinary chondrite containing secondary recrystallized feldspar (Av. ~16 μm) and accessory Fe-Ni metal, troilite, and chromite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa26.0±0.3, range Fa25.4-26.9, n=31), Low-Ca Pyroxene (Fs21.6±0.7Wo1.2±0.9, range Fs20.3-24.1Wo0.5-3.7, n=35). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5). Specimens: 45.3 g at Cascadia, main mass with Jason Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
