Northwest Africa 15997 (NWA 15997) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: August 2021 Classification: Pallasite Physical characteristics: Brownish mass composed in large part of weathering products Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Olivine crystals several mm in size, embedded in and croscutt by iron oxides and oxihydroxides (~50 vol%). No metal was detected. The only surviving opaque phase is schreibersite. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa 13.2, FeO/MnO=36 (n=2). Classification: Pallasite. Possibly paired with NWA 5693 based on purchase history.
