Northwest Africa 15822 (NWA 15822) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2022 Mar Classification: Iron meteorite (IIF) Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Iron meteorite mostly made of pointed kamacite spindles 10 µm wide and 100 µm long organized in Widmanstätten pattern, and black plessite. Euhedral sulfides with 30 µm grain size are present. Geochemistry: Composition: Ni 13.2 wt%, Co 6.90 mg/g (XRF analyses). Trace elements (ICP-MS, V. Debaille, ULB) Ga 10.1 µg/g, As 2.56 µg/g, Ir 7.38 µg/g, Au 0.70 µg/g, Cu 320.7 µg/g, Cr 23.7 µg/g. Ge was not measured. Classification: Iron meteorite (IIF). Plessitic octahedrite structure. Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE, main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
