Northwest Africa 15860 (NWA 15860)

(Northwest Africa)

Purchased: 2018

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3)

History: Purchased in December 2018 by Chalom Malka from Hassan O. Agadir in Morocco.

Physical characteristics: Single stone with slightly weathered dark brown fusion crust.

Petrography: (D. Sheikh, Cascadia) Specimen is comprised of ~0.8 mm-sized chondrules (largest size ~2.7 mm, n=52) set within a mostly opaque, slightly fine-grained matrix containing accessory Fe-Ni metal and troilite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.2±13.1, n=18), Low-Ca Pyroxene (Fs4.5±2.3Wo2.3±1.6, range Fs1.3-9.7Wo0.6-5.3, n=20).

Classification: Ordinary Chondrite (LL3)

Specimens: 21.1 g at Cascadia, main mass with Chalom Malka.
