La’gad 005 27.126823°N, 8.712939°W Saguia el Hamra, Western Sahara Purchased: 2023 Classification: HED achondrite (Diogenite, olivine) Petrography: (K. Metzler, IfP) Monomict achondritic breccia, consisting of harzburgite and dunite clasts (up to several mm), embedded in fine-grained related debris. Small amounts of plagioclase are present. Accessories are Cr-Al-spinel (max. size ~1 mm) and troilite. Point counting (n=175) on the investigated thin section revealed ~86 vol% olivine, ~9 vol% low-Ca pyroxene, ~3 vol% plagioclase, and ~2 vol% opaques. Geochemistry: Mineral compositions and geochemistry: Mean compositions: Olivine Fa29.5±0.3 (Fa29.1-30.2); Fe/Mn (at.): 44.6; n=15. Pyroxene: Fs24.7±0.7Wo3.5±0.6 (Fs24.0-25.7Wo2.6-4.3); mean Fe/Mn (at.): 30.4; n=14. Plagioclase An90.7±2.6Or0.1±0.2 (An85.9-94.4Or0.0-0.8); n=15.
