Northwest Africa 16505 (NWA 16505)

Morocco

Find: 2017

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4)

History: Total weight is 1560 g comprising two complete stones (710 and 850 g). Jeff DeVries purchased both from Topher (IMCA #6236) and Sue Spinnato of Topherspin Meteorites LLC, Chandler, AZ, USA in 2022. Topher had purchased the 710 g specimen on 29 March 2018 and then the 850 g specimen on 19 April 2022 from Patrice Jean Bachelier of Galerie-Lithique.com, Abilly, France. Patrice purchased both from the finder (Anonymous). Both stones found in Morocco in 2017.

Physical characteristics: Two stones with partially weathered fusion crust.

Petrography: (D. Sheikh, Cascadia) Equilibrated ordinary chondrite containing accessory Fe-Ni metal, troilite, and chromite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.1±0.2, range Fa17.7-18.9, n=27), Low-Ca Pyroxene (Fs16.3±0.2Wo1.1±0.2, range Fs15.8-16.7Wo0.9-2.0, n=26).

Classification: Ordinary Chondrite (H4).

Specimens: 23.88 g at Cascadia, main mass with Jeffrey DeVries.
