Classification: HED achondrite (Diogenite, polymict)

History: Reportedly this stone was found by meteorite hunters in 2022 in Ounane, Mali.

Petrography (K. Metzler, IfP): Polymict achondritic breccia, consisting of ~mm-sized mineral fragments and few lithic clasts, embedded in fine-grained related debris. Fragments mostly represent diogenitic pyroxene, intermingled with small amounts of eucritic lithologies (mostly basaltic). Accessories are a silica polymorph, Cr-spinel, ilmenite, and Ni-poor metal. Diogenite component > 90 vol%.

Geochemistry: Mineral compositions and geochemistry: Diogenitic clasts: Mean pyroxene composition: Fs31.4±0.7Wo2.4±0.5 (Fs29.9-32.0Wo1.6-3.2); mean Fe/Mn (at.): 30.4; n=11. Eucrite clasts: Mean low-Ca pyroxene composition: Fs63.1±0.5Wo2.0±0.3 (Fs62.2-63.7Wo1.5-2.3); mean Fe/Mn (at.): 34.0; n=12. Mean composition of Ca-rich pyroxene: Fs27.0±1.6Wo42.7±0.6 (Fs24.2-28.4Wo41.6-43.3); Mean plagioclase composition: An84.8±3.6Or0.3±0.3 (An79.8-89.6Or0.0-0.9); n=11.

Classification: Polymict diogenite, based on mineral chemistry, occurrence of admixed eucrite clasts and high abundance (>90 vol%) of diogenitic components.
