Find: 2021 Oct

Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, monomict)

History: (D. Heinlein) The stone was found directly on the surface of the sand near the city of Tazirbu, Libya.

Physical characteristics: (D. Heinlein) The dimensions of the rock, weighing 11.24 kg, are 21 × 20 × 15 cm.

Petrography: (F. Langenhorst, UJena) The sample is a basaltic monomict breccia with typical clast sizes of 1-5 mm. The original clastic texture is overprinted by the recrystallization of pigeonite and plagioclase occurring in a fine-grained granoblastic texture. Rare augite shows pigeonite exsolution lamellae.

Geochemistry: (F. Langenhorst, J. Langbein, UJena) Mineral compositions and geochemistry: the mean pigeonite composition is Fs53.3±2.9Wo10.1±3.3 (Fs48.8-57.7Wo5.7-15.2 ; n=16), Fe/Mn ratio of pigeonite: 32; n=16. Plagioclase shows An90.6±0.8 (An89.2-92.1); n=16.

Classification: (F. Langenhorst, UJena) Monomict eucrite, based on texture, mineralogical composition, and Fe/Mn ratio of low-Ca pyroxene.

Specimens: Type Specimen: 75.4 g, UJena; 7.0 g, Heinlein; the main mass is with Ilmarin Stalling.
