Northwest Africa 16736 (NWA 16736) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2023 Dec Classification: Ureilite Physical characteristics: A single brown stone. Cut surface reveals a brown coarse-grained interior. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Equigranular subhedral agregate of olivine with grain size 800 µm. Metal and carbon material are found along olivine rims. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa19.4±0.2, CaO 0.37±0.03 wt%, Cr2O3 0.38±0.09 wt%, FeO/MnO 43.4. Olivine rims are reduced down to Fa14.7. Pyroxene Fs16.0Wo9.3, Al2O3 0.87 wt%, Cr2O3 0.54 wt%, TiO2 0.16 wt% (n=1). Classification: Ureilite. Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE, main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
