Northwest Africa 17023 (NWA 17023) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: Aug 2021 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5) History: Jason Whitcomb purchased a single stone from a Moroccan dealer in August 2021. Physical characteristics: Single stone with slightly weathered dark brown fusion crust. Petrography: (D. Sheikh, Cascadia) Equilibrated ordinary chondrite containing secondary recrystallized feldspar (Av. ~12 µm) and accessory Fe-Ni metal, troilite, and chromite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.4±0.4, range Fa17.8-19.6, n=43), Low-Ca Pyroxene (Fs16.1±0.5Wo1.4±0.7, range Fs14.1-16.9Wo0.9-3.3, n=36). Classification: Ordinary Chondrite (H5). Specimens: 23.9 g and a polished thin section at Cascadia, main mass with Jason Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
