Mirabib 024 23°25.19’S, 15°15.09’E Swakopmund, Namibia Find: 10 Apr 2023 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3, melt breccia) History: The meteorite was found by T. Kryachko in the Namib desert during a meteorite collection expedition. Petrography: The meteorite is a melt breccia. It is composed of devitrified melt rock matrix and mineral and rock fragments up to 1-2 mm in size. The breccia matrix is crypto- to fine-grained aggregate of silicate minerals with rare rounded inclusions of metal and sulfide and abundant voids of 20 µm in diameter. The rock fragments are composed of a clastic chondrite breccia. It contains the chondrule fragments and clastic main mass with rare well outlined chondrules. Geochemistry: Clasts: olivine Fa19.2±6.9; PMD Fa=36% (N=35), pyroxene Fs13.0±5.7 Wo1.1±0.4 (N=21); melt rock matrix: olivine Fa18.8±1.0; PMD Fa=5.2% (N=43); pyroxene Fs17.0±0.6 Wo1.9±0.7 (N=14). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
