Northwest Africa 4919 (NWA 4919) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2007 Classification: Enstatite chondrite (EL melt rock) History: The meteorite was purchased from a local meteorite dealer in Erfoud, Morocco. Physical characteristics: Dark brownish fragment without fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite shows a strongly recrystallized texture of 50-200 µm sized enstatite grains, minor albitic feldspar, and Si-rich melt regions. Opaque phases include Si-bearing kamacite, Cr-rich troilite, and schreibersite. No relict chondrules have been observed. Geochemistry: low-Ca pyroxene: Fs0.5±0.2Wo1.4±0.3 (Fs0.2-0.7Wo0.7-1.6, n=10); feldspar: An15.8±0.6Ab80.3±0.7Or3.9±0.4 (An14.8-16.6Ab79.3-81.1Or3.3-4.3, n=12); kamacite: Ni = 2.12±0.14 wt.%, Si = 1.27±0.05 wt.%, N = 3) Classification: EL-melt rock.
