Northwest Africa 10583 (NWA 10583)

Morocco

Purchased: 2015

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3)

Petrography: Chondrules range up to 8 mm in diameter with an average size of -600 μm. The rock has very little metallic Fe: <0.1 wt.% unaltered metal, but it does contain -3 vol.% limonite. Troilite is also present. The range Fa2.4-24.3 of the olivine and range Fs1.8-18.5 for pyroxene are consistent with a petrologic type of <3.5.
