Northwest Africa 4760 (NWA 4760) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2007 Classification: Ureilite History: The meteorite was purchased in 2007 from a local meteorite dealer in Erfoud, Morocco. Physical characteristics: Dark-brownish individual without fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite shows a cumulate texture of up to 2 mm sized Cr-rich olivine and pigeonite crystals often sharing 120 degree grain boundaries. It contains some flaky graphite; olivine displays characteristic reduced rims. Fractures are partly filled with brownish alteration products. Geochemistry: reduced rims in olivine: Fa2.0-9.1; Cr2O3 in ol: ~0.7 wt% | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
